What it is

Barrier Dividend is a lightweight, calming night cream built for skin that is sensitive, reactive, red or easily flushed. Rather than using strong actives, it pairs barrier-supporting and soothing ingredients — niacinamide, panthenol, and specialist anti-redness botanicals (Albatrellus mushroom, Engelhardtia) — with gentle anti-ageing ingredients that don't irritate: bakuchiol (a retinol alternative) and the peptide duo Matrixyl 3000.

This is the 'gentle' anti-ageing option in the range: it works on fine lines and firmness while calming rather than challenging the skin. It's an ideal night moisturiser for anyone who finds retinol too harsh, has a compromised barrier, or wants an anti-ageing cream that won't trigger redness. The '19.9% wrinkle depth' figure is a brand-cited peptide claim rather than independent proof — treat it as marketing, not clinical evidence.

What it does

Repairs the barrier: Niacinamide, panthenol, glycerin and NMFs (sodium lactate) strengthen and rehydrate the skin barrier overnight.
Calms redness: Albatrellus and Engelhardtia extracts, plus niacinamide, help reduce redness and a flushed appearance — useful in rosacea-prone and sensitised skin.
Gentle anti-ageing: Bakuchiol and Matrixyl 3000 peptides support collagen and smooth fine lines without the irritation of retinoids.
Well tolerated: Being fragrance-free and soothing-focused, it suits reactive skin and post-procedure recovery.

How to use

When: Use at night on clean skin. Apply a pea-sized amount and massage over the face and neck until absorbed.
Where it fits: Because it is calming rather than active, it is well suited to nights when you are not using a stronger treatment, or as the moisturiser layered after a serum.
Great for: A sensible choice on 'recovery' nights between retinol or acid use, or during flare-ups when the skin barrier needs support.
Daytime: Follow your morning routine with SPF as usual. (Bakuchiol does not carry the same sun-sensitivity caution as retinol, but daily SPF remains essential for anti-ageing results.)

What each ingredient does

Ingredients are listed on the pack in order of concentration (highest first) down to about 1%; below that they can appear in any order. Some grouped rows below combine related ingredients for readability. Niacinamide sitting third on the list is a genuine strength — this is an active-level dose, not a token amount.

Ingredient

Role

What it does

Aqua (Water)

Base / solvent

The base that carries and dissolves the other ingredients.

Glycerin

Humectant

A proven hydrator, second on the list — present in a meaningful amount for a plump, comfortable feel.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)

Active — barrier / calming

Third on the list, so a genuinely active level. Strengthens the skin barrier, reduces redness and blotchiness, supports even tone and regulates oil. Well-evidenced and very well tolerated.

Propanediol

Humectant / solvent

Hydrates and helps the actives dissolve and penetrate.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride / Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate / C15-19 Alkane

Emollients

Light oils and esters that soften skin and give a smooth, non-greasy feel.

Arachidyl / Cetearyl / Behenyl Alcohol

Emollient / thickener

Fatty alcohols (not drying) that give the cream its body and soften skin.

Panthenol (Provitamin B5)

Soothing / hydrating

Calms, hydrates and supports barrier repair. Good evidence for soothing irritated skin.

Saccharide Isomerate / Glycogen

Long-lasting humectants

Plant-sugar and polysaccharide moisturisers that bind water to the skin for lasting hydration.

Bakuchiol

Active — retinol alternative

A plant-derived ingredient that offers retinol-like anti-ageing benefits (smoothing, firmness) without the irritation. Suitable when retinol is too harsh — a good fit for a calming cream. Evidence emerging but promising.

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 & Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 (Matrixyl 3000)

Active — peptides

A well-known peptide duo that signals for collagen and supports firmness and fine-line reduction. This pairing underlies the 'decreases wrinkle depth' claim.

Albatrellus Confluens Extract

Anti-redness active

A mushroom-derived extract used to calm redness and flushing — supports the 'less sensitised, less flushed' claim.

Engelhardtia Chrysolepis Leaf Extract

Antioxidant / soothing

A flavonoid-rich botanical with antioxidant and calming properties.

Pomegranate Fruit Extract (Punica Granatum)

Antioxidant

An antioxidant botanical that helps defend against oxidative stress.

Xanthan Gum / Pistacia Lentiscus Gum / Carbomer

Thickeners

Give the cream its light, smooth texture and keep it stable.

Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate

Natural preservative / conditioning

A ferment-derived ingredient that helps preserve and condition.

Lecithin

Delivery / barrier lipid

Helps carry actives into the skin and supports the barrier.

Sodium Lactate

Humectant / NMF

A natural moisturising factor that hydrates and supports barrier function.

Sodium Gluconate

Chelator

Binds trace metals to keep the formula stable and effective.

Sodium Hydroxide / Citric Acid / Sodium Citrate

pH adjusters

Balance the pH so the formula is stable and skin-friendly.

Polysorbate 20 / Arachidyl Glucoside

Emulsifiers / solubilisers

Keep the oil and water phases blended and the texture smooth.

Pentylene Glycol / Phenoxyethanol / Ethylhexylglycerin

Preservatives / conditioning

The preservative system that keeps the product safe and fresh in use.

Good to know

Retinol alternative: This is the gentlest anti-ageing option in the range. If retinol (e.g. Night Reserve 0.3) is too irritating, this is the sensible alternative — bakuchiol gives retinol-like benefits without the reaction.
Sensitive skin: Fragrance-free and soothing-focused, making it a strong choice for sensitive, rosacea-prone or post-procedure skin.
Realistic expectations: The '19.9% wrinkle depth reduction' is a manufacturer claim tied to the peptides, not independent clinical proof. Expect gradual, subtle smoothing over weeks — not dramatic change.
Safety: For external use only. Avoid the eyes; rinse with water if contact occurs. Discontinue if irritation occurs. Store below 40°C, away from direct sunlight. Best used within 6 months of opening.
